Dear Denison Montessori Families,
As you may be aware, we have been using a variety of measures to ensure our school stays open and our students feel comfortable during extremely hot days. Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of students and staff. If the temperature within the building rises to a degree that we feel is unsafe to host classes, there is a possibility that our school may have a Heat Day. Weather forecasters say temperatures in Denver will hit 96 on Thursday.
I am writing to let you know that we will have an early release and Heat Day tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.
I understand that this is short notice, an inconvenience for many of our families, and that childcare may be an issue for some. I am available to answer questions you may have regarding the Heat Day decision.
Breakfast will be served in the classrooms tomorrow beginning at 9:05am and sack lunches will be provided for students to take home with them at dismissal at noon.
Buses will leave at approximately 12:10 and will arrive at students’ scheduled stops approximately four hours earlier than scheduled. A parent or guardian will need to meet students at their stop or the bus will bring them back to Denison to ensure their safety.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school, and I very much appreciate your patience as we successfully navigate through the first weeks of the school year.
Sincerely,
Natalie Fickes, Principal
