Dear Denison Montessori Families,
We have continued to use a variety of measures to ensure our school stays open and our students feel comfortable during extremely hot days and have been carefully monitoring classroom temperatures today. We are in the process of getting additional port-a-cool units in our building and operating to provide increased cooling across the building. Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of students and staff. Weather forecasters say temperatures in Denver will hit 98 on Friday.
I am writing to let you know that even with the additional measures we have taken, we will have an early release and Heat Day tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.
I understand that this is short notice, an inconvenience for many of our families, and that childcare may be an issue for some. I am available to answer questions you may have regarding the Heat Day decision.
Breakfast will be served in the classrooms tomorrow beginning at 9:05am and sack lunches will be provided for students to take home with them at dismissal at noon.
Buses will leave at approximately 12:10 and will arrive at students’ scheduled stops approximately four hours earlier than scheduled. A parent or guardian will need to meet students at their stop or the bus will bring them back to Denison to ensure their safety.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school, and I very much appreciate your patience as we successfully navigate through the first weeks of the school year.
Best regards,
Natalie Fickes, Principal
