Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  We would like to warmly welcome our new and returning students and families to the Denison Montessori community.   We are also thrilled to see our returning children and families very soon!  This is a long Denison Digest with lots of information about the upcoming school year.  Please be sure to read all of this Digest and the links included so you have answers to many of the questions you may have about the upcoming school year!  We are excited to see your children very soon.

Denison Announcements

  • In-person registration will be taking place August 9th & 10th from 8:00 – 4:00 p.m. in Denison’s library.  Class lists will be available at registration.  
    • Wednesday, August 9th: Primary (ECE3, ECE4, & Kindergarten) Students & Their Siblings*
    • Thursday, August 10th: Upper & Lower Elementary Students (1st-6th grade)*
  • Please note that children cannot start school without completed registration forms! Please call the Denison office at (720) 424-8080 with questions after August 4th.
  • Parents: Please bring updated immunization information with you to registration.
  • Parents: We will be collecting your $50 classroom donation. 
  • First day of school is Monday, August 21st for 1st through 6th grade.
  • Kindergarten students will start on Tuesday, August 22nd
  • All four year olds will start on Thursday, September 7th.
  • Three year olds will be phased in the week of August 28th.  You will receive your start date from the teacher by August 22nd.
  • If you have completed registration online, please bring your confirmation page.
  • Please note that we will be able to help you register your child more efficiently if you come to registration on your designated date.
  • Class lists will be available at registration. Please see the Family handbook for full information on the classroom placement policy.  You can access it using the following links in  English, Spanish or Vietnamese. 
  • Construction is moving right along and our community is excited to return to school with newly air conditioned facilities!  When you come to school for registration, you will still notice construction crews throughout the school finalizing this work.  Please go to the library doors, as this is the only area of the building accessible to families and students during registration. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • Please review the linked information about school drop-off and pick up routines and times for the 2023-2024 school year in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.  (add new times)
  • Did you know that your student’s attendance can impact their socio-emotional and academic growth?  Studies have shown that students who miss multiple days of school per year are at risk for reading below grade level.  Denison Montessori wants to support all students’ regular, daily attendance.  Please review our updated attendance guidelines, available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese, for information about state, DPS, and Denison Montessori attendance policies.  
  • If your family needs assistance in getting your child to and from school every day, please check out our SchoolPool program.  We are pleased to partner with Schoolpool, a free program to make it easier to get to school.  Signing up is simple, just click here for more information. This information will also be available at registration.   
  • With the transition to Discovery Link for before and after school care this year, Denison Montessori is excited to announce the return of after school enrichment programs.  Please read the DENISON FALL ENRICHMENT BROCHURE 23 to see if there is a course that interests your child.  Please e-mail enrichment_extendedlearning@dpsk12.org if you have any questions!
  • Looking for ways to get involved at Denison Montessori?  Our Collaborative School Committee, also called the CSC, is looking for family and community representatives.  This committee engages in strategic planning and decision making for our school and meets regularly once a month after school.  During the budget season, which is late January through early February, more meetings may be required.  If you are interested in learning more, please contact Ms. Natalie at nfickes@dpsk12.net 

DPS Announcements

  • You may have heard that all school meals will be free for the 2023-2024 school year.  However, DPS is continuing to ask all families to fill out the You Benefit! form (formerly referred to as the Meals Application) during registration for the 2023-24 school year. By completing the form, you will help Denison Montessori access all available funds to cover the cost of meals, and other nutritional programs for students.  Families who fill out the You Benefit! form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more!  All household income information provided through this form is strictly confidential and protected by law. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship or refugee status is not required when completing the form.
  • Please help the City of Denver better work with Denver Public Schools to raise awareness of air pollution. The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) has been working with local Denver schools to monitor air quality and share information with students and school staff to keep students healthy on bad air days. Your input can improve those efforts. Use this  link to access a survey about your experience with air pollution.  For each survey response (which should take 5-10 minutes), the organization will donate $5 to the Denver Public Schools Foundation!

  • El registro en persona se llevará a cabo el 9 y 10 de agosto de 8:00 p. m. a 4:00 p. m. en la biblioteca de Denison. Las listas de clases estarán disponibles en el momento de la inscripción.

Thông báo của Denison
