Denison Details, Weekly Update September 28, 2012

Message from the Principal

I am frequently asked what parents can do to help Denison and one of the things that helps tremendously is the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Even if you do not qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch, our school receives benefits that go directly to all of our students. Presently, 130 students have not submitted their forms. If you have, thank you very much! If you have not, please do so today. A form is being sent home with your child this afternoon if you have not filled one out yet. It is also possible to fill out this form on-line. You can also find additional information about the free and reduced lunch program at A frequently asked question is “Who sees my application?” Only kitchen staff at Denison knows who receives free and reduced lunch. The office staff and teachers do not know your status. Even if you know that you do not qualify, completing the application helps Denison so please, take a minute tonight and fill it out.

Denison Parent Organization

We would just like to let you know that the Denison Parent Organization is up and running. We would like to thank everyone who signed up to volunteer for different events at registration. We have not forgotten about you and appreciate your desire to help. There are a few “housekeeping” things DPO is ironing out but we do have a few events planned. Our next meeting is October 1, at 4:30, outside under the Pavilion (weather permitting) and we hope you can come! Butter Braids sales will begin the week of October 15. If you don’t know what they are we will be handing out samples before sales begin at morning drop off. We will be setting up specific dates for the following events, so please keep an eye out: Skate City, Canvas and Cocktails, Family Night out at various restaurants, Breakfast for the Teachers and Staff. The dollar a week program is up and running.
